Synopsis /// Facing the scene
The small town Swiebodzien is located on the transit road between Berlin and Warsaw. It is neither known for historical reasons nor for its touristic attractions. Yet, that changed through the inauguration of the biggest Jesus monument in October 2010.
The monument that counts 38m was erected on a small hill on the outskirts. The film ‘Facing the scene‘ was shot on the 20/21th/st of November 2010 in Swiebodzin and deals with the nauguration of this Jesus statue.
It concentrates on the preparation of this event and its dismantling at the end of the day without showing the happening as it is normally broadcasted by mass media. By looking at individual subjects as single parts of a larger community that is created through the the elebration of the event, the film creates a kind of narration that is constructed only by singularities passing by one after another.
The film pays attention to the surroundings and narrates an event by focusing mainly on the reactions and the behavior of the spectators. It tries to equilibrate social, political and religious dimensions of such kind of events by figuring out their complexity and by stressing the interrelation between modernity and tradition, between urbanism and periphery, between consumer culture and power play.

Es ist wieder so weit!
Am 08.10. lädt das Netzwerk unabhängiger Kunsträume Leipzig Lindenau zum halbjährlich stattfindenden lindenow.
Bereits zum fünften Mal öffnen alle beteiligten Kunsträume am gleichen Tag gemeinsam ihre Pforten und warten mit Ausstellungseröffnungen sowie diversen Aktionen auf.
Das im Titel leicht zu entdeckende „now“ gibt den Ton an, das Netzwerk ist jetzt und jetzt ist immer. Auch über den KunstraumTag lindenow hinaus, ist die Arbeit im Kollektiv ein stetiger Austausch von Ressourcen und Ideen, bietet allen Beteiligten Inspiration und Unterstützung.
Genetzwerkt wurde schon vor dem Netzwerk, wenn auch ohne ausdrückliche Bezeichnung..
Fünf Jahre ist es her, dass der erste Kunstraum am Lindenauer Markt seine Zelte aufschlug und keine weiteren fünf hat es gedauert, 10 Off-Spaces im Stadtteil Lindeau verzeichnen zu können. So gibt es auch zum Lindenau #5 einen neuen Raum anzukündigen; das Studio Plusnull im Tapetenwerk.
